Ongoing Fundraising - Mennonite Doc

For those who don't know, I've been working on and off on a documentary about a local Mennonite community for the last two years.  I anticipate one more Spring of shooting and then we can go into editing (finally).  In order to shoot what we need, though--and to afford an editor--funds are desperately needed.  Funds to the tune of about $2500.00!  We are doing this through the website Chip In (take a look at the widget in the right sidebar).  Donations can be made by clicking on the widget and using Paypal (credit cards and debit cards can be used as well).

This fundraiser is also serving as a 'test drive' for future fund raising events for the Memphis Film Society; in short, if we can successfully raise $2500 using online marketing and resources, we can assist local filmmakers with raising funds in the future (though that will be done through the MFS website (www.memphisfilm.org).  Despite the link for the fundraising page, this is purely an Elsinore Productions project and fundraiser.

So please help us raise $2500!  Donations of $10 or $20 are fine.  Everyone who donates will get a 'thank you' in the film credits--but keep in mind that anyone who donates $50 or more will get a co-producer's credit in the movie.  Thanks!

'Schism' to Premier at Indie Memphis 13

Our short film Schism will be making it's first ever premier at the Indie Memphis Film Festival next week.  It will be part of the 'Shorts #3' program that will be featured on Saturday, Oct 23 at the Studio on the Square theatre.  And a great screening time it is!  It will be playing right after the screenings of Aaron Katz's movie Cold Weather and Craig Brewer's film The Poor & Hungry (playing at the Playhouse on the Square).

This experimental short stars John Moore and Melissa Walker Moore who both do a wonderful job.  The crew for the shoot was a whopping three people that included Ed Griffith, Torre Redford and myself.  Once the short has made its rounds through the festival circuit (it's submitted to several more at the moment, including the SXSW Film Festival and the Nashville Film Festival) it will be posted here for the world to watch.

Get your tickets for the Indie Memphis festival at their website--it's well worth the money considering the films they will be screening, the mixers and the chance to network with other filmmakers.

New Film in Development: Black Magick

Elsinore Productions is now in development (bordering on pre-production) for the film Black Magick.  A horror-thriller in the vein of Hitchcock and Kubrick, Black Magick will be shot entirely in the Memphis, TN area using only Memphis resources.

Shooting for the movie will take place in November and we hope to have a late Spring 2011 release.  Casting for the movie will happen in the very near future.  Please join our Facebook group to follow the production of this movie and to support us in the Memphis film community.

Stay tuned for more upcoming information regarding this production.

Short Film 'Schism' has been Shot!

Cinematographer Ed Griffith shoots a scene with John Moore
We managed to get our new short film Schism shot this past week with the help of our actors (John Moore and Melissa Walker Moore), the cinematographer (Ed Griffith) and a sole production assistant/assistant director (Torre Redford).  Big thanks goes out to everyone who pitched in--and to Ron Gephart and his family for allowing us to use their wonderful home for our location.

Editing has already begun on the film and we hope to get a cut of the short finished in time to enter in this year's Indie Memphis Film Festival.  Wish us luck!

Casting Call: Short Film

So we are trying to get the casting call out for a short film we are trying to produce ASAP for the Indie Memphis Festival.  There's only two roles (one male lead, one female lead).  We are doing well on getting word out to the male talent in Memphis, but have only gotten a couple hits from female actors.

The short film is called Schism and the script can be downloaded here for those interested in reading for a role.  Take a look, then email me your headshot to info@elsinoreproductions.com.

The short serves as a sort of prelude to a feature film and will be used to market the feature once it has finished its festival run.  We could possibly use a couple crew members on hand to help out with the short as well (so give me a shout at the same email address listed above if you're interested).   Thanks for helping me get the word out!
